All students are required to participate in Physical Education classes. Students with documented medical problems must bring in a physician’s note to the school nurse. The note should not be handed in during class time. The student must report to all Physical Education classes and any missed classes will be considered a class cut. Please note students with medical alternatives may NOT participate in sports, cheerleading or kickline.

The following work is designed for any student unable to participate in Physical Education. This work must be handed in at the appropriate due date for each quarter. Please be aware that failure to complete the required work will result in a quarter grade of F.

Medical for up to 2 weeks.

Find an article of interest related to physical education/health/sports. This could be on a sport that you have covered in class, a sport/activity you participate in outside of school, or a current health issue or general sporting article. You must get the article approved by your Physical Education. If you are unable to find an appropriate article please see your teacher who will assist you in your search. Articles must be stapled to report in order to receive credit.

Write a one page summary of the article you have read. Be sure to include the author, title, and key terms, main arguments and assumptions made in the article. Try to cover the following areas: What is the main issue or problem that the author is addressing? What evidence does the author present? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the text? Be sure to include a cover page with the title of your paper, author, your name, teachers name, physical education period, grade and quarter.

Write a second page with your reactions to the article. Consider carefully what you think or feel about the article you've read, and be sure to include the following information: How do you feel about what you are reading? Do you agree or disagree with the author? Can you identify with the situation? Does the evidence in the article support the statements the writer made? Have you read or heard anything that applies to this what the writer said in the article? How it made you feel and what if any changes this article will make you adapt in your life?

Medical for up to 4 weeks.

Write a summary and reaction paper for two separate articles.

Medical for over 5 weeks.

Due dates are one week before the end of each quarter.
